NEMA 4 and NEMA 4X Enclosures

Sparton designs and fabricates sheet metal enclosures to meet NEMA type 4 and NEMA type 4x requirements. We offer our own standard enclosure lines that we can fully customize by including your features and cut-outs as we fabriate your enclosures. Sparton offers full sheet metal fabrication and precision maching services to manufacture an enclosure from your drawings or any other parts as well.

Please note, that if we are manufacturing to your drawings or models, you take on the responsibility and liability to make sure your design can meet the NEMA requirements. We make the same disclaimer for any features you wish to add to our factory certified enclosure designs.

To Make Custom Enclosures or Modify Off The Shelf Enclosures?

Sparton manufactures & modifies electrical enclosures at competitive prices. Often, clients are not sure whether they should have custom enclosures made or just modify stock enclosures. Generally the big factors are cost and lead time.

When you should modify an existing enclosure

It might be cost effective to modify if you only need a few enclosures (less than five) and want to modify only a couple of sides of an otherwise acceptable off the shelf enclosure.

It is generally more cost effective to manufacture custom enclosures if you:

Would need at least two sides customized
Require more than five enclosures
Can design your own enclosure - If you can't, we can do it for you.
Plan to reorder the same enclosure (or very similar) in the future
Want custom colors and silk screening
Can't find exactly what you want "off the shelf" from the large box manufacturers
Want to eliminate the hassle of buying from one vendor and having a third party modify your boxes

As more of the above reasons apply to your project, the more advantageous it is for you to have enclosures manufactured for you, with your custom features already designed in from the start. Some customers just want a totally customized look for their product that an off the shelf rectangular box just can't give them. Custom Manufactured Enclosures

All of our enclosures are made from fabricated sheet metal, and are custom made to order. We generally use steel, 5052 aluminum, 304 SST or 316 SST, depending upon the nema requirement for your application. Other materials are available upon request, such as naval grade 5086 aluminum sheet.

Our most popular enclosures are NEMA 4 and NEMA 4x, constructed of welded 304 SST with a brushed finish.

Often we manufacture the enclosures along with other sheet metal and machined components for customers. We can be your one stop shop for your mechanical requirements including integration.
